day 6: the LUGE!

on Wednesday the 25th we drove out to Rotarua, where they have luge and amazing pies! now when i say pies, i don't mean like desert pies...they don't even have desert pies in NZ. they eat pies for meals and they are usually filled with mince meat (basically ground beef), steak or chicken (kinda like our chicken pot pies). the first pie i tried i was a little apprehensive, but by the time we left i was loving them! delicious! any ways, back to luge. in case you don't know what luge is, it's sort of like bobsledding, but on cement instead of ice. you are in a little car thing (it has no motor...just down hill) and you just steer it. if you ever get the chance to try it...do it!

here is part of the luge track. oh, funniest thing: so august and i were just going down minding our own business when a group of like five guys go rushing past us, thinking they are so cool. we turn the next corner and one of the guys is sprawled out half over the railing with his luge car in the bushes. we had to use everything we had to not loose it and start laughing at him. later at the bottom the track splits into lanes and as we get off our luge cars the same guy comes full speed into the unloading area, hits the barrier, goes over it and falls off is car again...is that sad that i find it hilarious? oh, well it was; you know you would have laughed too. :)


well, that's all for now, but i still have lots more to post up...i'll save that for tomorrow.
