every time we saw a sign, we had to stop...typical tourists
Lewis lake...named for the Lewis and Clark expedition, even though they never actually made it that far
katie took my mom's sunglasses
we were waiting for old faithful to explode
the only way katie likes to take a picture is with her tongue out...she won't just smile, so i stuck mine out too...figured it was better to have some picture than no picture at all
there she blows...
katie on gary's back swimming in the firehole canyon. the water is super warm for river...like 70 degrees due to the million (slight exaggeration) degree water pouring into it from the hot pools.
betsy and i jumped off those rocks in the background into the current so we could float down through the canyon...cool!
floating down river...
after we went and visited the million degree, sulfur smelling, quite beautiful hot pools...doesn't it look so inviting, like you want to take a nice hot soak in it? it may LOOK that way. i was reading this book i found in the gift shop: "Deaths of Yellowstone National Park". some guy was with his dog and the dog got away from him and jumped into one of these things, so the guy went in after it. the man was rushed to the hospital, but died from the burns and lost his hands, which were later identified as two melted floating blobs in the hot pool...so gross and yet so awesome at the same time. not that he died, just more amazing at how hot those things are. man i should have bought that book! haha
paint pots...they bubble

haha when you were talking about the weather, you said "especially because it can look like this one minute" and I thought you referred to a photo directly below that phrase, but it was a picture of you.
in short, I was like "montana can look like you face?????"
HAHA! ... It was funnier in my brain.
