oh the horrors of halloween

so, i know i was supposed to get back to you all and post Thursday about our match against CAMS...cause i know you are all dying to hear about it. haha! well, it was slightly depressing; it being our last match and all, but i don't think the feeling of the end of season has really sunk in yet. coach told me i should just go have a good cry...i think she was kidding...not really sure. we'll see what happens after next week (when it will officially be over). laney and i only played two matches; one against the two's and the other against the three's. our first score was a nice bagel and the second was a better match by far, ending 4-6. one of the girl's and i had some pretty insane volley rallies, so that was just a lot of fun for me to play.
last night, as many of you probably know, was halloween. julie and i decided to hang out and also my cousin, justin, came over for a while since my uncle is here right now from Salt Lake. basically, i didn't want to go buy anything to dress up, but julie insisted that i did find some type of costume. i simply dressed in the most nerdy outfit i could put together...pretty funny/embarrassing pictures. perhaps i'll put them up if i get any from cameras around the proximity. i took katie to a few houses, which was fun. she looked very cute in her fairy princess costume. after katie was done trick or treating, we hung around my house for a bit, handing out candy. at around 8:00 justin, julie and i decided we would go check out the "shipwreck" thing down at the Queen Mary (it's a lot like Knott's Halloween Haunt type of thing), since gary was given free tickets by someone. justin was planing on going back to Whittier around 10 or 10:30, so we decided what could it hurt to go for like an hour, right? wrong! probably one of the most ridiculous experiences of my life! we leave my house, discover that justin doesn't have his ticket, go back, get said ticket, drive to downtown Long Beach, encounter a creepy pedestrian in front of my car dressed in an exact rendition of Chuckie (brought to our attention by justin screaming "Oh my god, it's frickin' chuckie!"), finally figure out where i'm supposed to be going to get to the Queen Mary and then get stuck on the Queen Mary bridge for literally a stinkin' HOUR AND A HALF, during which we tried to amuse ourselves by preforming such acts as a Chinese fire drill and singing. on a side-note our Chinese fire drill didn't work so well...justin was cramped in my back seat and julie was in the passage seat. i jump out and didn't know justin was coming out my side of the car and almost beheaded him with the door; then he just fell out of the car and i had to climb over julie (who didn't participate) to get back in. good times! once we finally were able to park...5 miles AWAY...the adventure continued, complete with my personal favorite part of the night, which was having some guy totally open the bathroom door on me (that was sarcasm, by the way). yeah, the only bathrooms they had were port-a-potties and i'll spare you the details, but basically those things are just plain nasty, have no locks and some guy got more than he bargained for when he opened that door. oh well, all i can say is that at least it was dark and i will probably never see him again in my life.
once we actually managed to get into the ship, i must say, it was better than i thought it would be. we went through a few of thier maze things, which were cool, i guess. so scary when all these people keep jumping out at you in freaky looking masks. justin was absolutely no help in this matter and took delight in hearing julie and i scream, while every time someone actually scared him all he would do was say "oh, that was good" or "you got me...". and then other times he would push us into things or try and make us scream. i must say that i was much braver than julie, whom was running screaming with her ears plugged...pretty good to watch.
justin ended up driving my car home, since we didn't get out of there until 11:30 and the law says i'm not supposed to drive after 11:00. that was interesting as well. we drove all through the port of Long Beach because someone wouldn't listen to my directions, but in the end he did and we made it back home. he also did never make it back to college, like he had planned and ended up just spending the night with us. what a crazy fun-filled night!
i'm off to bed. later!
