a day of much laughter and some tears

of all the interesting days of my life, yesterday had to be up there as one of the most. not the most interesting, but definitely one of them.
it did rain in the morning, which was very pleasant to wake up to. luckily it cleared up by the afternoon, so we were able to play. we got out of class at 11:30! how great! all six (seven including coach) piled in the infamous valley christian van and headed to subway (eat fresh) yum! from there we went to the home depot center and began warming up. laney and i played against the #2's from Campbell Hall and just as we had gotten beaten 0-6 by them before, we lost to them 0-8 this time (8 game pro-set). the girl almost hit me in the face...twice! one time i was able to step aside and the other i placed my racket there, causing the ball to fly a few 100 ft to the left...i've got skill. hey, i was trying not to die, cause if that had hit me i would have had a nasty bruise if not worse. it was sad that we were done so early, but i honestly feel as if we played our best. we both had some nice shots at baseline and net, so overall i was pleased with how we played. i was just upset that, that was my last match of high school tennis. everyone lost 0-8 except brittany and alicia, who lost 3-8. we just put against some pretty tough team...nothing we could do. only brittany and i were sentimental about it being our last match and both sort of cried (i was more laughing at her and crying at the same time) and alicia was just running away from us in disgust...hilarious!
we were all done by 2:00 and then just decided we would watch other matches going on so that we didn't have to go back to school while school was still going on. ms. admiraal went to get sasha and abeje from the CAMS courts up the hill (they had to separate singles and doubles, which made it hard for ms. admiraal to coach us all with us being at two different locations). abeje and sasha come back down like 5 mins later and we guess coach stayed up there to watch because we didn't see her for the next 30 minutes and called her at least 10 times without an answer. pretty sad that we lost her...our theory was she was off doing some crying of her own. haha :)
we stuck around and watched some matches until around 2:45 and then talked ms. admiraal into going to yogurt land, but then had to completely back track cause we got stuck in the carpool lane and missed the exit by like two or three...what an adventure. as most do, the people in yogurt land thought we were out of our minds as we were trying to be nice and basically began attacking coach, trying to pry the fro yo from her grasp when she refused to let me pay for her. the girl at the counter just started and goes "uh, i can feel the love...".
when we arrived back at school what do we want to do after playing a tennis match? well, play more tennis, of course! we all wanted to go hit, so we played for about another hour. it was me and coach against brittany and alicia...we had a blast and worked on our intimidation and dance skills!
oh, and the fun didn't end there. you see, there was this thing being held at school for the election; the POTUS party. and since i'm in government this semester, i was able to earn 20 pts EC, by just attending...yeah i'm there! alicia hung with me, so we were trying to kill time. we begin walking to the parking lot and then i remember that i need my keys out of the locker room. we arrived at the door right at ms. admiraal was locking it. so, we go get my keys and then again are headed out to the parking lot, when i discover that i don't have my phone and that it is indeed sitting on top of the lockers of the locked locker room. alicia and i threw our stuff down and sprinted to catch coach, who drives like a maniac and was long gone within 15 seconds! we walked around looking for someone to open it for us. then i had a bright idea..."i could just call coach and see if she'll come back if she isn't too far."
alicia: "yeah hurry up and do that!"
then we stop and look at each other...oh, wait...what was it that i needed again? my phone. it was a long day.
finally i asked someone in the bus garage and i was told to go to someone office. i didn't even know there were offices in the bus garage...well there are! i walk in and ask him if i could get in the girls locker room and his reply: "i don't know who are you?"
"um. danielle lewis"
"who?"
"uh, i play on the girls tennis team"
"are you any good?"
"ummm...sure...somwhat"
it was interesting...finally i was able to get my phone.
after that ordeal alicia and i still had an hour or so to kill, so we went to the cerritos library, since neither of us had ever been. we were amazed! it's like museum inside! crazy cool!!!
then we went back to school for the POTUS party, sat there for two hours and watched Obama win the election and then went home. such a long day!
when i got home i really tried to do homework, but failed. i was so tired, had a headache and then ended up really just breaking down and going to bed.
i know i'll get over it and there is so much ahead of me, but i just can't help but miss it right now and be a little upset. it may seem like a really dumb little thing to be so attached to, but it is just something that is really important to me and has been for the past 3 years. but, i'm glad it was such a positive experience that i was able to have and will still have all the fun memories. and i know i can still play even though it isn't' the same...i'll just have to be sad for a little while and i'll gradually let it go and move on.
in the meantime i can try and find other things to keep my mind occupied, like today i went for a run...that made me feel really good.
