sun, fun and family-thats what my afternoon consisted of. ha! my parents decided it would be nice to go on a family bike ride down to marine stadium for lunch at this cute little place called "On the Mar"...good food too. while we were sitting there, eating, we began to reminisce about all the stupid things betsy and i did when we were younger and let me tell you, there are many of them :)
for example, we were on a short trip to San Diego when we were maybe 11 and there were some fires going on in the area. gary was at a business meeting, my mom had a headache, betsy was in the shower and i was just watching tv, when all of the sudden they do one of those things where they say something like "we interrupt this program for an important announcement" and then started talking about evacuating the area. i didn't know what area, but i freaked out and figured it was somewhere near by because the sky was grey and ash was falling from it haha! i got up and started packing everyone's cloths, was yelling at betsy to get out to the shower and frantically running around screaming to evacuate. i was a dumb kid...haha but, betsy's story is worse i think.
this also happened on a trip. we were driving to utah in a green minivan (rental car) and stopped for gas. when we pulled up at the pump there was another green minivan in front of us that was the same model. betsy got out of the car to use the bathroom and as she came back out, we all sat in the car and watched her as she headed towards the other green minivan, got in and buckled her seat belt. the lady in the front seat turned around and said something to her like "well, you can ride with us if you really want to". it was the funniest thing! especially because we were all just watching her do something stupid. kind aren't we? :)
anyway, i just thought i'd share that with ya'll
the rest of my weekend was pretty good, minus this english paper i've had to write, but it's almost done, so i'm happy about that. yesterday i went to another track meet with matt. it was at biola and our coach was there, so it was good to see him and jump with some instruction. i ended up jumping 4'8", which isn't bad, but not great either and matt jumped 5'10", which is really good for him this early in the season. the way back was fun too; matt got lost (he drove) trying to find the 91 freeway and we ended up driving through a random neighborhood where all the streets were named after South American countries. actually, it was quite entertaining...we kept trying to guess what that next one would be before we got to it. except he totally saw "Chile" up ahead and then tried to cheat. haha but yeah, twas fun!
oh, and on friday night i saw justin for the third consecutive weekend, which isn't a bad thing. we played catch phrase and then had a sweat shirt fight...don't ask. never a dull moment with him...
well, i best be off to finish my novel analytical paper (what a big name haha) and then i think i'm going to bake a cake
caio!
